What factors influence if a person will file for divorce?

Life is unpredictable. A person may spend several years happily married, but a relationship can break down over the course of several years. In some cases, couples realize that they've grown apart after many years of marriage, and divorce becomes the best option for them. Collaborative law may provide a way for couples in this situation to approach divorce in a civil, efficient manner.

What can be done to prepare for divorce mediation?

When a married couples come to the realization that divorce is the best option, they may not know exactly how to proceed or where to turn. Even though some California residents may not be fully aware of all of their options to pursue a divorce, they may know that they want to it to be settled fairly, civilly and relatively quickly. For those individuals, mediation may be a sound alternative to "traditional," litigated divorce.

Mediation could be a solution for same-sex divorce

As of this summer, same-sex marriage is legal again throughout the state of California. The U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in June effectively put an end to the state same-sex marriage ban, so all couples can now have their marriages recognized.
